Tell us about yourself in 2-3 sentences!*

What’s up y’all! My name is Jenn Torres. I am a beauty & style creator from South Central Los Angeles. My style is heavily influenced by my Mexican roots of Zacate-cas, MX and growing up in the city of angels. love mixing different styles and serving looks.

What’s one thing you wish you would’ve known at the start of your career as a content creator?

wish I knew more about negotiating rates, money was such a taboo topic growing up. As a new creator it was scary asking if there was a budget for payment but once I got more and more comfortable negotiating rates and finding a rate where I felt comfortable asking things became way better. And remember you are worth every penny.

Describe you dream project or collaboration no limitation just pure imagination.

My dream collab/project is to get invited to a fashion week by my favorite luxury brand. I want to live out my brown gossip girl dream!

How do you balance staying true to your creative vision while meeting the demands of your audience?

It’s important to build a relationship with your audience, would not be here without the support of my community. I always try to check in and ask what content they want to see more of because as a creator you’re constantly recreating yourself but I still try to keep it Jenn.

How do you overcome creative blocks or moments of self-doubt?

When I have creative blocks I first clean my space, I feel like actively declutter where you are helps to declutter your mind (shouts to my mom who would have us clean every Saturday, I totally get it now). Then I take a step back and reconnect with myself and find inspo outside of the internet. When self doubt happens I lean to my small group of loved ones who are there to remind me that I’m capable of anything.

A piece of advice for creatives:

Please keep going, even when it feels like nothing is hitting and you’re not getting the numbers you want, trust me, someone out there is watching and the best thing you can ever do is never give up on yourself, you got this! Be your own cheerleader, if you can already see it you’re half way there, you just have to show up!
